LI: To create your own comic strip of an imaginary conversation.
My comic strip shows the conversation I imagine these two people had after one of the men had sneezed his teeth into the sea during a fishing trip.

LI: To create a piece of insect art
LI: To write a summary of the story behind the Operation Christmas Drop in your own words.
Today at Tamaki college was the last week at tech we grabbed 10 leaves for the activity.we had to try to get the colour, texture, thickness, pattern and the size of the leaves . we had to find out how the plants eat,how plants grow, why animals need plants.than we wrote down what kind of leaves people eat for example cabbage, red cabbage, lettuce, seaweed, kale, spinach. Then we watched a video about plants and how they spread water through the plant.
LI: To experiment with colours
This morning we tried one of this year’s Kick Start Summer Learning Journey activities. The purpose of this task was to experiment with colours by mixing colours from the original palette with pop colours. This allowed us to recolours famous painting or images of landmarks around the world so we can make are own.The Panting i did was Rose Vincent Van Gogh (1980) at the Metropolitan Museum of art.We did this with room 5 kids my buddy was Aliyan K.
Today the whole school went into the hall so we can watch the performance that the Te Whanau Raukura preformed for the school. This group of people that came and preformed for us they perform at Auckland Museum. When Te Whanau Raukura preformed for us one of the people in their group was spiking in Maori and when he finished talking they stared to perform and when they finish performing they started to speaking and say like (Hello everyone nice to meet you all) Then when they started to performed they did the Haka and they were showing off stuff that the Maori people use in dancing and fighting. And they sang a song well they were showing off what they were using .The stuff that they were using was poi/2,Long poi/4 and Te Rakau . Then One of the people in the group came the are class and her name was Bekah she taught us how to play Pukana and i think everyone love playing it.And the best part that i like was playing Pukana and the reason why is because it was fun and i enjoy it.
LI: To identify and consider the two perspectives of this provocation to help me form an opinion.
A provocation is an action or speech that triggers strong feelings about a topic. Today we considered both sides of the provocation, ‘Should masks be compulsory on NZ public transport?’ We then used that information to help us form an opinion that we could justify with evidence.I say everyone should wear and not wear.
Yes why people should were masks.
Yes people should wear mask because they might get coronavirus.
No why people should not wear masks.
No because people might not like wearing masks and also it might feel uncomfortable.
LI: To identify author’s purpose.
Authors write for a purpose (reason). These reasons are to persuade, inform or entertain (PIE). Each day, newspaper editors around the world must make desicions about which stories they will run. We explored the different types of current events that are happening in New Zealand, thought about why the story made the news and plotted the location on a google map. The thing that i found intrusion is that i didn't know that they found a black panther in the south island in Christchurch.
LI:To try and stop being embarrassed
Today for writing we were reading an a embarrassment poem. The is book was about dealing embarrassment or handling it. We created a DLO with instructions about how to stop being embarrassed. 1st you must learn the secret to stop being embarrassed. 2nd When embarrassment strikes, imagine it is a temporary STOP sign. Finally if you want to become an embarrassment expert, you must learn the most difficult technique of all, which is to laugh and keep laughing until the moment grows fainter and fainter
LI: To explain how we solved our maths equations.
For Maths we worked in mixed math groups to practice our team skills and to help us explain how we solved these word problems. The topic of these word problems were about Metric Measurements, which was more specifically about weight and mass. The word problem was about the ingredients and the weight of these ingredients. We had to find the weight of the missing ingredient by adding up the weight of the ingredients we knew, and subtracting it from the weight of the whole food.
LI: To write a summary of the story behind the Gunpowder Plot in your own words.
To understand why we celebrate Guy Fawkes each year LS2 buddied up with recorded all the important words from the story Mrs Anderson shared with us. We then chose the 20 most important words and from those words chose 6 words to help us write our summary. And we help room 5 write a summarise and i was wroking with Shaun and Ahi
LI: To write an explanation using TEEL paragraphs
This week we have been revising explanation writing. Next week is our assessment week so we did this collaborative challenge to remind ourselves what is needed when we write explanations. We found it interesting the way the paragraphs all connected at the end and you could see the links between the ideas.LI: To make wise choices
Why is it important to make wise choices?
Why do you drop rubbish in the sewers when you are polluting the sea?
Did you know that everyday people throw rubbish on the floor and the wind is pushing the rubbish in the sea or the sowers and they will end up in the sea and we need to do something about it.
Birds pick up the rubbish everyday and they feed it to their babies and sometimes when the birds eat the plastic and they die or their babies will die without food because people are not putting their rubbish in the bin so we need to start putting rubbish in the bin.
Most of the rubbish end up in the sea and the sea animals are eating it because they are mistaking it for food.Sea trials are dying because people are not throwing their rubbish away they are just throwing it on the floor and people are just walking past the rubbish.
Everyday one million sea animals die a day and this happens because we are throwing rubbish on the floor and most people don't care about the invention and some people do care about the invention that is why we have to do something about it.
This week we wrote about why is it important to make wise choices. And picked something going on in the world. I did Plastic Pollution. The reason why i did plastic pollution is because people need to be remind on to throw there rubbish away.
LI:To find out what inertia is.
LI: To think deeply about a change I would make
If I was Prime Minister I would I will make sure that there is a pool in every school and I will make sure that in every school gets free lunch.
The reason why is because it is important that children learn to swim and are safe in the water. The reason why I would let schools have free lunch is so if some does not have lunch they can have some at school.
LI: To work out the elapsed time
LI:To paint a still life of sunflowers in the style of Vincent Van Gogh
This week for the Te Reo challenges we were doing are family trees. We stared to do on a peace of paper and then some of LS2 toke there family trees home, and we showed are parents. Then we made are family tree on a google drawing. Then we wrote dawn are family members names but we only write dawn the names of are family members that we know and we also had to write dawn the moari names.
LI: To identify what we know about science
This week the year seven went to science. We were introduced are silves. And then we were assigned a seat each. Then we got notebooks and we wrote science words like tube, biology. Then we all had to write something on the white board. We had to come up with science word. Then we got are paper from Miss Sharma and then we had to fold are paper into fours. On the top left we wort science words again. And then on the bottom left corner we had to draw an instrument that evolved around science. Then on the top right side we wrote a question we wanted to know about science. On the bottom right corner we cutted out a picture. And then we had to glued the picture on are paper. Then we glued the paper onto are notebook.
Today LS2 got two books each from Duffy Books in Schools. My books were Captain Underpants and the Bad Guys. I like both of the books because I have read other books by these authors and I really enjoyed them. I'm looking forward to reading Bad Guys because I want to find out what adventures they go on in this story. Thank you Duffy Books in Schools for the books for all the PBS kids.
LI: To create a timeline to show the life of Vincent Van Gogh.
L.I To summarise the information.
L.I: to find the most vital ideas from the information to help us answer the question what is science.
This week for reading we have been learning about what science is. We started off with writing down what we already knew about science on sticky notes, then we watched a video to find out more. While watching the video we used the sticky notes to make notes. The video explains the areas of science, the difference between basic science and applied science. One thing we found really interesting was that you use chemistry, physics, and biology when you make a lime juice from fresh limes. We negotiated and shared ideas to create a summary, we used the sticky notes to create sentences for the summary. Our group worked collaboratively to get these activities completed. We enjoyed doing this activity as we were able to practise negotiating and taking time to respect everybody's ideas. We have summarised our learning below. Science is about getting knowledge from asking questions . It is divided into 3 areas: Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Science is both basic and applied, basic science using what you know. Science is either beneficial or harmful depending on how you view and use it. Questions we want to ask: Where can science be used? Why is science important to our world ? When do scientists ask questions?
L.I.Use 6 sentences to set up the structure of a narrative
Today my group wrote 6 sentence stories to help us take risks with our writing. We did this by sharing our ideas and writing sentence that drop hints about what was happening in the picture we chose to write about. We helped each other by suggesting ideas to each other to make our stories more interesting.
They were about to walk into the cave that went underground. The cave was so big there had to be more beyond the path.Nick was good at exploring.Suddenly the shadow from the mythical creature appeared behind them. Jim and Tim were so scared about getting eaten by the creatures that they fainted.Screaming they ran towards the light.
Today at tech me and the eothe year 8’s we were coding the mbots to make a stairway with a maker. Today we had to try and make the mbot draw a star. Then we got chalk and started drawing stars on the stars outside. Then we started to decorate our star. When we finished our star we pretended to be the mbot and went in a star shape walking on the lines. The reason we did stars is because it was matariki week.
Our group worked collaboratively to carry out a statistical investigation to help Miss Pryde choose the winning kowhaiwhai design for our PBS Te Reo blog. When we asked the students the designs on the DLO were the most popular. If you click on the link you will see all the kowhaiwhai designs our class created.
Here is a link to all the kowhaiwhai designs
LI: To find the most efficient strategy to answer the question This week our group practiced finding the answer to written maths questions. To do this we needed to first find the numbers we were working with. We decided the most efficient strategy was to use our times table knowledge. Being able to find how many groups of a number made this strategy efficient. |
LI: To read the information in the text, think about what you have read and form an opinion
We read the story ‘The Protest March’ then made connections between what is happening in the world now. We used the information in the story and our prior knowledge to help us form an opinion.
LI: To structure and write a procedural text.
For writing we have been learning how to write a procedural text. To do this we used the recipe we followed at Tech. This procedure tells the reader how to make hot cakes. Before we wrote this we worked collaboratively to order the pictures Mrs Anderson took of us making the hotcakes. Once we had done that we matched each photo with a verb. A verb is an action word and tells anyone following the recipe what they need to do. After that we use the verbs as sentence starters and collaboratively wrote a list of instructions.

L.I To retell the story of the gingerbread man.
Today we read the story of a gingerbread man. The old lady was making a gingerbread man but she told the little boy to watch it the little boy was watching it but he was daydreaming. Then the gingerbread man jumped out of the oven and ran out of the house. He passed the little boy, two well dodgers , two ditch diggers, a bear. He came to a wolf but he did not outrun the fox because the fox tricked the gingerbread man and ate him all up.
