Te Reo Challenges

LI: To draw and label the Matariki cluster of stars 

This week for the Te Reo challenges is that Miss Pryde gave the school a Te Reo challenge.We had to make the stars of Matariki and name them.Also the Matariki is the Maori new year.

This week for moari we did a takes called Ko wai to hoa.

For maori me and my group did the name's of the gods.And we had to guess what the names of the gods were.

LI:To learn the seasons in Te Reo maori.

The word for seasons in Maori is tau. Spring summer,autumn and winter also have their own words.We used the Te Ara website to learn these words.

Today we began to learn about matariki by reaging a book called night sky.
Matariki is the Maori new year.

L.I to learn about patupaiarehe fairies and the geography of Aotearoa.

Patupaiarehe are fairies that live in the deep deep forest.
They have magical powers like making magical rope and strength. The patupaiarehe we learnt about today live on mountains.
We learnt about patupaiarehe and fairies by listeing to the story of ihenga and searching for information,and using google maps.

LI: To learn the geography of Aotearoa.
Mount manumitting is a mountain in taurauga the hunua and waitakere ranges are mountains in Auckland. Patupaiarehe are fairies that lived on these mauntains in maori myths. I learned about the patupaiarehe and mountains by listing to two stories,The legend of ,auoo and the turehu wars.I learned where the mountains are by looking on google maps.

Today for maori we red in the beginning this book is adout 6 children that wants to separate ther father from their mother. The childrens names are Tane mahuta,rongo,tafiti Matia, tangaroa,Haumia,TU Tawhinimatea and then Tu sed we shod kill them and they sed no until they had an idea they all try to push them apart but it did work then Tane had a idea and then he laid on his back and then pushed there dad a part and then ther dad went up into the sky.
